Hand Crocheted Ties for Men and Boys - 1952

Hand Crocheted Ties for Men and Boys in Imported D-M-C Pearl, as shown in Vol. 404 from 1952. It's the "newest fashion for men".

"The hand crocheted tie is fashion's big new favorite for men and it's the big new favorite with men who want something really new, really different, really good-looking in ties.
Whether he prefers solid colors . . . smart neat patterns ... or bold exciting designs ... you'll find them all here to choose from and, each and every one is downright easy to crochet and, above all, downright economical too - most can be made for less than $1.00.
And what beauties these ties really are crocheted of luxurious silky D - M - C Pearl! They tie easily, and with that perfect knot that every man likes, because only D - M - C Pearl has the texture, the superb lustre, and the strength and suppleness so important in a good hand crocheted tie. In addition, like all D - M - C, the brilliant colors are fast to washing ... an advantage you'll appreciate as much as he will.
Crochet him one of these smart new ties and see how pleased he'll be to wear it."

Machine Decoration is Quick, Easy, and Fun To Make Money, Save Money - 1952

As I suspected this was a Necchi production...the lovely Mary Beth scanned her copy and shared the introduction pages. This book features the "Necchi Custom DeLuxe (Model BU)", but the tricks and treatments shown work with any machine...but I'm sure the Necchi did it all better!

Modern Home Sewing - 1952 - Drucella Lowrie and Sylvia Magar

This 1952 book is a little odd. It actually is two books in one, Modern Home Sewing is the cover title, but it's made up of Modern Machine Sewing by Drucella Lowrie and part two, A Complete Guide to Home Sewing by Sylvia K. Mager. My copy is missing a few front pages of Drucella's section so I am guessing a bit, but since Necchi Sewing machines are featured throughout I think they may have put these two authors together. In any case it was a great idea, this little paperback book has tons of great stuff for us to see, stick around.

The Big Top In Crochet - 1952- The Greatest Show On Earth!

Inspired by Cecil B. De Mille's Paramount Production - The Greatest Show On Earth, with Dorothy Lamour and Betty Hutton.
And some pretty cute things to crochet!

And don't forget the stars!
