Hilary Swank For Elle November

I love the simplicity of this cover shot, it really lets Hilary shine through.

almost famous.

Well not quite..but still pretty damn exciting and awesome! Little sis is the talented fashion editor and stylist for LOCALE MAGAZINE, a new Orange County premier lifestyle publication! What you'll find in the glossy pages of Locale is the best of what Orange County has to offer...and ya'll know OC has plenty to offer.

To be a timeless stylist, one must be fluent in all levels of fashion (if one wants to make a career out of it). Throwing on a pair of Forever 21 jeans and heels from Bakers is easy and of course there's nothing wrong with that...afterall , fashion has no boundaries. Anna has an eye and knowledge for fashion (the main reason this blog exists), mixing basic, vintage and high-end pieces together to make up a helluva fabulous outfit! And aside from the exterior of fashion, she's got deep skills as a writer; as if she's a veteran and been doing this all her life. i mean, her articles even makes ME intrigued to read!

Anticipating to read and see more of her name in print!

don't just talk about it, be about it.
Kudos to you little sis and Locale Magazine!

tonight: a celebration @ Locale Magazine's launch party.

HERE, KITTY KITTY

Following the throwback to 1950s housewife glamour from Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton collection and Prada, it is most certain that the ladylike look is back and here to stay. Maybe Mrs. Cleaver and our beloved Lucy Ricardo had it right all along. What's sexier than a cinched waist, a perfectly pinned-up boufant, a pair of red lips, and some kitten-heeled pumps? All the above, MINUS kitten heels.

I'm going to say this now (and not make a retraction about this statement later) that KITTEN HEELS are not the cat's meow. No other shoe can be more unflattering. Flats or high heels -- pick a side and stay there. While reading through the latest Harper's Bazaar, I stumbled across an article entitled "The Return of Kitten Heels" by Anamaria Wilson. Here, she promptly states that she is very petite and lives in her high heels. But, in the name of some serious investigative journalism, she decides to take on the new mini-heel trend by walking the streets of NYC; what a brave, brave girl.

Even after stepping out in a pair of Giambattista's and McCartney's, Wilson said "with the kittens, I looked like a banker or a hostess or a secretary. In other words: boring." Read the rest of her shoe-capades and find that she actually gives in and says she fell in love with some classic Louboutins. I bet you anything that was the last time she ever wore kitten heels.

Anna dello Russo may love them. Anna Wintour may walk to every fashion show in them. But this Anna will have to say, pass the five-inch wedge.

HOLD ME CLOSER TINY DANCER

It's been one day short of an entire month since my last blog post. If it wasn't for Sophia and her continuation to contribute, this could've been considered a hiatus. But alas, here I am -- fresh from a 2.5 week trip to Vietnam and Thailand, and bombarded & overwhelmed with ALL the fashion week fashion shows I opted to not look at while on vacay. (plus, muchmuchmuch to catch up on at locale)
Slowly, but surely  I will eventually get through all the amazing things to look forward to next spring. So far, so amazed. Loving Hannah Macgibbon's tiny ballerinas that tiptoed down the ChloĆ© show -- an up-rise in extreme flats do I see?

Oh blogworld, how I've missed you.

p.s. i'll be posting some photos from my trip as soon as i have the energy to flip through the 2000+ pictures i took.

Style Inspiration: Ao Dai

Every once in a while I get a huge amout of inspiration from a precise piece of clothing or object, as opposed to a whole category. This time it's the Ao Dai. I've always been attracted to traditional south-east Asian clothing, but recently I've been favoring the Vietnamese costume, consisting of a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over pantaloons.
It's absolutely stunning on its own, but added to that it gives the wearer such grace and poise things just get better.
The Ao Dai comes in all colors, ranging from a simple, pure white for every-day occasions, to multi-colored, embellished ones for weddings and traditional holidays.
My favorite part of all this is that each Ao Dai is tailored specifically for the wearer, garanteeing a perfect fit each time.
