my boyfriend/roommate/eccentric enthusiast of fashion/creative mastermind (in his very ocd way), darling Eric Doan produced, filmed, and edited this eye candy motion editorial as a gift to me and our group of pals.
in february, Eric flew out seven of the girls to nyc to celebrate his 25th birthday, with a total of 11 of us cramped into a 500-square-foot apartment (with ONE bathroom), to spend time with one another and to shoot the scenes for the film. from prancing around in gowns in 20-degree weather on our rooftop, to rolling around in our apartment in our underwear, Eric was able to beautifully and artistically capture the core of each of our personalities.

albeit i was pretty camera shy, and slightly embarrassed of my own clip, i am still so proud to be a part of the video. and even thrilled to have this to look back on in 10 years, so i can say: dang. we looked damnnn cute.

Day 13- Bohemian Twist

So.  Blogger was down yesterday.  Allllll - day.  AND this morning!  What the heck Blogger!  I have hair styles to show!  I'm sorry about being slow to respond to your comments.  I promise it's not my fault!  And I will get right on that.  Because your comments mean so much to me and I don't want you to think I'm being ungrateful.  :-)

You should have seen me yesterday, though.  I was checking to see if it was up every 20 minutes.  Brian was like, "Babe I think you have a problem... you might need to get some help"!  And it's true.  I'm totally addicted.  And I couldn't get my fix.  So I just ate a lot of cookies.  Um 7 to be exact... made me kind of sick! :-)

ALSO!  I wanted to thank those of you who voted.  We have totally pulled ahead.  And it ends tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed!  If I win, I'll definitely show you the pictures when she takes them.  That way you guys can have that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you made it possible!  So, thank you!

Day 12- Becky Wannabe

Yeah, my hair wasn't too big of a mess this morning.  Even if it had been though, this one would have worked.  You guys. I am in love with this hairstyle right now. I mention Becky Harris in the video, it's not Becky Harris.  It's Becky Newton!  Ooops!  Anyway, she's got this crazy braid thing goin' on in some of her photos on google right now.  I was inspired by her photos and came up with this doosey.  I'm sure I didn't invent this or anything, but I haven't seen it on anyone recently.

It's just a french braid wrapped around your head, with the topsy tail- of course!  Tip: keep it loose.  This will look awesome and stay in ALL day long.  I think that's why I love it so much.  I chase my little boy around all day and by the time my husband comes home from work I'm a mess!  But no-uh, not with the Becky Wannabe.  Ha ha ha!!  I think it'd be way super cute on little girls too!!  Have fun my friends!

i am loving the resurgence of ladylike clothing. the classic suit may be aging to some, but with the right coloring (color blocking -- SO spring), i say that the right blazer/trouser pairing should be the newest (and totally upgraded) uniform for us young working girls.

gone are the days we rely on leggings and an oversized tee to express our lack-of creativity for day wear. at this day and age, and with such graspable runway looks for off-the-runway-prices (a la Zara, et al), any career girl can channel her inner Coco Chanel or Kate Hepburn or Annie Hall. personally, when i throw on a blazer and sleek pants, i tend to stand taller and mind my overall look a little more than usual. poised and polished!

someone once told me, "DRESS FOR THE PART YOU WANT."
and my dear friend Edward Wulf always lived by the mantra:"GOOD CLOTHES OPEN ALL DOORS."

Day 11- braided messy bun

If you know how to dutch french braid, that'd be so pretty to!  I have tried and tried and I cannot do a dutch on myself.  I can on someone else, but I get my fingers mixed up when I try doing it on myself!

FINALLY.  Gees, I know I know.  I said I'd have a video up for each hair style and it's been what, three days since I've had one?  NAUGHTY!  I'm really trying for you!  Did anyone notice the order these last few days?  First my hair was curly in a headband {had just washed it}, second my hair was half up with brushed out curls... today it's a messy bun.  If it's not a disaster when I wake up tomorrow, I just might go one more day without washing it!  This is about the biggest secret ever, so don't tell just anyone.  :-)

And for those of you who don't know how to french braid.  YOU'VE GOT TO LEARN HOW!!  It is so in right now.  I have so many braided hairstyles in here and I want you to be able to benefit from all these "do's"!  Practice.  PRACTICE.  Okay?  Promise me you'll practice!  Don't worry though, I know what it's like to be frustrated with braids.  Like I said earlier, cannot for the life of me do a dutch french braid on myself.  SO frustrating!

Watching the video and seeing my french braid in the pictures and stuff- I should have pulled it out and made the braid looser.  It's really tight.  Which I am not super fond of, but I wasn't about to re-do the video and pictures!  So keep that in mind.  And also my hair is getting so long that the way I'm use to doing messy buns is sort of not working as well.  If your hair is shorter, perfect!  There are tons of tutorials for messy buns though on youtube if the way I do it doesn't work for you!  Good luck!

Day 10- Plain Jane

So I really need to win this photo shoot... remember how I said Brian won't spend money on photography?!  But I figure since I have such wonderful followers and viewers... that some of you would want to help me out?  PLEASE PLEASE?  I do so much for you... {sad, pouty face} K, all you have to do is click here and like Micah Folsom's Photography page on Facebook, and then like my photo under her mothers day contest album.  Or you can click here to get to the photo as well.  It's the first photo... if you couldn't tell!  Cute huh?  My neighbor took it for me.  Anyway, I will love you for ever!  I have 20 somethin' votes and there is another girl with 55.  I'm at 39 and the other girl is at 52!  DUDE.  We can totally beat 52!   YAY!!!

What would you guys think about having a Make Yourself Over Monday Linky Party this coming Monday?  That way you have enough time to figure out what hairstyle you'll show off for us?  Just an idea.  I think it would be such a great place to share what everyone else is doing.... yes?  No?

I refuse to give up my winter clothes.  Until it's boiling.  I have so many cute fall/winter clothes.  And then summer comes and it looks like I'm half homeless!  I love summer.  When I can be in a pool.  Or laying out by a pool.  Or eating ice cream inside an air conditioned house looking out at a pool... ha ha!  Fall and Spring.  Those are my months.  And I am refusing to give up my long sleeves and layers until it's boiling!

I wasn't able to get a video of this one, my mom wasn't around AGAIN when I was doing my hair.  BUT.  I think most of you guys know how to do this already.  I put my hair half up, leaving less than an inch of hair above my ears down.  Then I took those hairs that I left down and I just wrapped them around the elastic band and pinned them.  My hair is slightly curled, which I showed you how I curl my hair in the last few minutes of the day 7 throwback video.  All that's different is I brushed out the curls so they weren't as prominent.  I will be posting a better tutorial though on curls... like I said yesterday. So if you can, hang on a minute!  I really love doing these hairstyles back to back because yesterday I curled my hair and today it was still curled from yesterday.  Took five seconds.  Pretty awesome.

I would suggest that when you wash your hair, you come up with some styles that compliment each other.  So for example, if I'm going to wash my hair I will leave it down on day 1.  Day 2 I'll maybe curl it and put the bangs back.  Day 3 I'll brush out the curls and put it half up.  Day 4 I'll do some type of braid or ponytail.  That way you're not washing your hair, putting it up and having to wash it the next day because it's flat and all kinky.  Because remember how we're going to try not washing our hair everyday?  Remember?  I know it's hard.  I'm totally here for you.  It gets easier.  And easier.  Then all of a sudden it doesn't take you an hour to get ready anymore and you have all this spare time and you're like, "why in the world did I not do this sooner".  Plus your hair will be so healthy- it will love you.
