McCall's Magazine - 1907 - Jackets (and Skirts) That Will Be Fashionable This Season

"There is great variety in the outdoor wraps for the coming season. All figures are suited, and if a woman cannot get a becoming jacket this fall, the fault is her own as she has no lack of styles from which to choose."

How I organize all that stuff

So... you could say I'm cheap. Not because I want to be. But because we are saving our money.  Which is nice... and crappy.  But when we can put 20% down on a nice home, it will totally be worth it. ANYWAY. This is my "cheap" way of organizing all my hair stuff! I had just a normal plastic pitcher and inside I threw all my clips and brushes. Then I found this old candle holder thing my mom had and I used it to hold my elastic bands... as you can see! Then the outside of the pitcher serves as my headband holder. Not to bad huh!? One day I will have a nice drawer that has a built in headband holder you find in stores. And then it will be perfect. But until then, this works juuuuust fine!!

haha, do you like my ghetto brush!?  It's like, five years old!

McCall's Magazine 1907 "The Queen of Fashion"

This wonderful McCall's Magazine will show us lots about life in 1907. The skirts, the waists of course, but don't miss the hair, the figures and what was considered beautiful.

More to come this week.

Grace Annie Fannie

Do you know what I love?  I love waking up in the morning to a happy baby.  Who adores you.  And I love it even more when Brian is home and we make waffles.  I also love checking my email and comments. What better way to start your morning?  You are all so nice to me!  This is why everyone should have a blog.  It's good for the soul!  Plus it gives Brian his much needed baseball time... and I tend to be a little clingy when I have nothing to do so it's perfect!

You should all know, I am slowly but surely working on the ebook! And when I can get my little model of a sister to come visit me, we'll be working on short hairstyles!  AND little girls hairstyles! I don't know why that wasn't on the poll- but I know you want them! Also, very soon I will be opening up an etsy site. Because I'm kind if crafty!  So be excited for that!!

Today I have one of my cute little nieces modeling her adorable hair.  I'm not the one who is amazing at hair my friends, it's my sister-in-law.  JaQuoy.  She is crazy talented and super creative!!

 Little Grace Annie Fannie!

My mom took these pictures while at the Micah Folsom Photography photo shoot.  I haven't gotten all hers back yet.  But I'm super excited to!

Also.  I entered another photo contest.  Really Abby?  You JUST won one!  Well I know.  So that's why I won't be rallying for it.  But if you are in the neighborhood you should stop by the Ciara Richardson Photography Facebook page, like her page and then like my photo.  You'll know which one it is!!  Cause remember how we're having a baby?  And how Brian doesn't like to spend money on photography?  And how I'm going to have a baby?!!  If you don't vote, you should at least check out her photography.  She's one of my most favorites.  AMAZING.

K love you guys!

NYLON JUNE/JULY MUSIC ISSUE: Fashion News, stylist's assistant

and on the FASHION side, i was lucky enough to assist stylist Christina Saratsis with putting together the wardrobe for Fashion News: 2 models, 8 stories, 10 outfits, a 12-hour day of shooting in Brooklyn, and a final 8-page spread in the June/July issue.

I had the best time assisting, but my favorite part of all this is...that I get credited in very very small print at the bottom of every page.

tiny victories :)

1. PATTERN PLAY: Catarina Gatta's iconic prints
2. GOTTA HAVE SHADE: Ray Ban's new double-take on the classic aviator
3. WILD CHILD: do-good dresses by Autumn Adeigbo

4. WORK IT OUT: Dr. Martin's first clothing collection

5. DRESS YOU UP: A conversation with the new face of Material Girl (Madonna's daughter's line), Kelly Osbourne
6. SHOE-IN: blinded by Verlain brogues

7. Jeans of the Month - McQ: low-rise is on the rise...again!
8. CARVEN (I forgot to pull the PDF of the actual page from the mag, but the behind-scenes photo will suffice): the revival of an old, beloved brand.

stylist's assistant: anna tran.

NYLON JUNE/JULY MUSIC ISSUE: interview with DJ STEVE AOKI

wow, i can NOT believe it is already june...something! i've been waiting weeks for this month to come around so i can show you the work i've done interning in both the EDITORIAL and FASHION departments at my favorite, magazine NYLON!

in my second week of being in editorial, my editor asked me if to interview DJ STEVE AOKI for our Culture Club feature. meaning, do a casual interview and collect ten of the artist's favorite songs of the moment. a twenty-something minute conversation later, i wrote up my FIRST article for NYLON and poof here it is in black and white (and a whole page!!!)

I have an addiction

It's time for Brian and I to get new bedroom furniture.

Don't think for a second we'll be able to afford any of these though!  In fact, no one should be able to afford these.  Ever.  Okay, if you were really rich and had all the clothes you wanted, and the house of your dreams and a few really perfect cars for your family... and your children's college funds were beefy enough... and you got to go on vacations with your family... yes.  Then even I might toy with the idea of buying a $2,000 bed.  But who ever has all those things?  I feel like there is always something better for me to spend my money on!  Ha ha, so what if I'm just trying to make myself feel better!!

While I might not be buying a Pottery Barn bedroom set anytime in the near future.  I still love to look.  Because hey, I'm thrifty enough.  And you know when you really really want something, and you save up to buy it?  And then you buy it, and you're happy for like 5 seconds and then you've already started saving up for the next thing?  That's just the way we humans are I guess.  Never fully satisfied with what we have!  But in this case, there's nothing that a piece of sandpaper and a can of paint can't fix.  And there are some pretty awesome finds right now on KSL that will do just perfectly.  Awe, and then there is the bedding, oh don't get me started!  I'm not the best seamstress in the whole world, but I sew.  And I'm feeling a sale coming on at Joanne's...  make the best of what we have yeah?!

Anyway.  Just thought I would share with you my crushes!!
