fashion's WEEK out (aka FNO x6)

following the success of last year's FASHION'S NIGHT OUT (a night where stores are open late with celebs & designers crawling around town in support of SHOPPING!), the bosses of fashion have decided to take it GLOBAL. no, this will not be a week-long event in each city around the world, but will be an event jumping from one city to another.

the schedule is as follows:

Sept. 7: France
Sept. 8: Britain & Korea
Sept. 9: Australia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain
Sept. 10: India, Russia, U.S.
Sept. 11: China, Japan, Taiwan
Sept. 16: Greece & Turkey

I say we petition to hold one somewhere in LA/OC! who's with me!?

a 'brow situation

hi, my name is anna and i used to be a pluck-aholic.

all you asian girls, don't act like you don't know what im talkin about! back in the late '90s i think it was the thing to have super-thin, extra pointy, artificial-looking, pencil-drawn eyebrows. but, as we all know, trends come and go. and in this case, this trend is (thankfully) GONE.

unfortunately, my urge to pluck back in the day has diminished my chances to ever grow back a full upper eye bush, a la camilla belle and ashley olsen. which brings me to my point...i LOVE THICK EYEBROWS!

that's all.

my favorites from the Met

monday night at The Metropolitan Museum of Art 2010 Costume Institute Gala was a parade of the most stunning pieces of draped, sequined, tailored, and laced couture EVER. it was a difficult task to narrow down my top 5 (only five because i can only add 5 photos per post!)..

so here they are, but in no particular order:

1. coco rocha in zac posen
2. chanel iman in michael kors
3. chloe sevigny in proenza schouler
4. charlotte gainsbourg in balenciaga (naturally)
5. alexa chung in zac posen (reminds me of that massive Dolce&Gabbana tux Rihanna wore to last year's, except much more toned down)

le Versailles

a little over 2 years ago, i nestled in a flat in kensington, london, where i made a temporary new life for myself. i studied, i interned, i pub crawled, i shopped, i TRAVELED. and among the travels to rome, florence, venice, amsterdam, bath, stonehenge & salisbury, and oxford, it was on the top of my list to go to paris & versailles.

so when my travel sister tammy tran and i took the eurostar to paris for the weekend, i coaxed her into taking the bus to versailles with me. sofia coppola's marie antoinette was so breathtaking, that it made quite an impression on me (the costumes, the setting, the pastries, the eclectic mix of non-european actors!). so, with its genius soundtrack uploaded into my ipod, we took the grand tour through the chambers of the chateau and gardens...exactly where the young queen herself dwelled and ruled. oh, to live in such decadence!

if you ever get the chance to go to paris, take the short trip to versailles, s'il vous plais! it's so worth it.
